Each year millions of tourists flock to Hawaii to enjoy the warm weather, hiking, surf and the spirit of Aloha. The travel2change Hawaii challenge seeks to create a deeper meaning to vacations in Hawaii. How can we travel to benefit the local communities in Hawaii? Through a crowdsourcing competition travelers are encourage to not just travel, but to travel to create change – for travelers, local communities and Hawaii.
Travelers, locals and organizations can join the travel2change community by signing up at http://travel2change.org. Through the site, everyone can submit trip ideas that will create benefit the local communities in Hawaii. Whether it is helping out the homeless, keeping at-risk youth out of trouble, or preserving native Hawaiian foliage, there are no limitations to the ideas.
Trip ideas for the Hawaii Challenge can be submitted now through April 18, 2013. Once the deadline has passed, members from the travel2change community are encouraged to vote for their favorite trip idea through May 2, 2013. These votes will help the expert jury pick the winning trips that will receive funding support. Local communities can express their support for trip ideas. The winning trips will be realized starting in May.
