Travel opportunity to Thailand to benefit anti-human trafficking

An announcement by our travel2change member from Thailand, Ali Weiner.

The International Labor Organization estimates that right now, nearly 21 million people are living in forced labor – working against their will in countless industries in every country in the world.

In November, Freedom to Walk is convening volunteers from around the world to walk more than 350 kilometers, from Bangkok to Myanmar, to benefit and raise awareness about five organizations who are working to combat human trafficking on five continents.

Our Walk aims to raise at least $100,000 for our beneficiary organizations and to educate our corps of Walkers about human trafficking so that they are equipped to catalyze specific actions against trafficking after the Walk. Our Walkers include VIPs US Ambassador to Thailand Kristie Kenney and former US Presidential candidate Howard Dean. Each of our Walkers will spend the months before the Walk raising funds for our beneficiaries before beginning our journey from Bangkok on November 3. On the days of the Walk itself, we’ll spend mornings walking and time each evening learning about human trafficking using material culled from experts around the world.
