Trek & Rehabitat at Kualoa

by Kualoa Ranch

Join Kualoa Ranch to save the local vegetation from invasive species.  The adventure begins with a guided Hakipu’u Hike which takes volunteers through a beautiful forest, over a flowing stream, by a Hawaiian cultural restoration site and on to the restoration work site. Along the way we’ll learn about the history and cultural significance of Kualoa, hear some local legends and become knowledgeable about native species.

The Hakipu’u Hike is a 1½ miles (2m), moderate level hike that normally takes 45 minutes and retails for over $40 per person. All travel2change volunteers will receive the experience for free in return for helping to restore nature in one of Oahu’s most beautiful locations.

Once we arrive we’ll work as a team in the loi “mud” to remove invasive species that threaten the local vegetation at Kualoa. After working for 1 hour, we’ll continue up to the overlook and check out the stunning picturesque views of Kane’ohe Bay.

Highlights:

  • Restore nature
  • Receive a guided hike free of charge
  • Experience Oahu’s inner island beauty
  • Learn Hawaiian history
  • Gain an insider’s view into Kualoa Ranch

  1. So Fun!!!

We cleaned up taro patches some wild pigs had destroyed! We had so much fun getting muddy and helping restore the area! The guided hike was so good and we saw some of the places they filmed “LOST.” The hosts were very knowledgable and told many stories and local legends. Kualoa Ranch is one of a kind!
